Open your Encrypted Document

Each document encryption file is secured with either a recipient-created password or a sender-set password.

When the password is entered, you may be able to allow a cookie on your device to prevent you from entering the password again when revisiting the same message before it expires.

Open an Encrypted Document with a Recipient-created Password

When you receive a document encryption message for the first time, you will receive an email notification instructing you to create a password before you can receive your encrypted document. The password you create will unlock the encrypted document that you are about to receive and any subsequent encrypted documents you may receive.

To create a password and open your encrypted document, do the following:

  1. Open the encrypted document notification email and click the Click here to select a Secure Document Encryption Password link. The Create a Password page on the secure web portal opens.
  2. Perform the following:
    • In the Password field, enter a password for your encrypted document.
    • In the Confirm Password field, enter the same password again.

Note: The password you enter in the Confirm Password field must match what was entered in the Password field.

  3. Click Apply. Once your password is set, your encrypted document message is delivered to your inbox.

Open an Encrypted Document with a Sender-set Password

An encrypted document can be secured with a password set by the sender of the email containing the encrypted document. The sender must communicate the password to you, the recipient, before you can open the encrypted document. A sender-set password notification will contain a hint as to what the password is in the message body. Before the encrypted attachments can be extracted from the encrypted document container, you must enter the password that was communicated by the sender.
